Book Review: The Enchantress of Florence
This book was immensely disappointing. The back cover talks of Rushdie weaving a magical world – but I could never bring myself to buy-in.
Maybe my disappointment stems from the expectations set by Rushdie’s outstanding “Midnight’s Children”, which is among my all time favourites.
There are passages where you can’t help but admire the prowess of the author – but the story overall is too disjointed to develop a sense of anticipation. If the book were not written by Salman Rushdie, I likely would not have bothered to finish reading it.
